Glasgow brothers open joinery superstore thanks to RBS funding
Glasgow-based brothers, Chris and Barry Neilson, have opened Neilson’s Joinery Superstore thanks to a £50,000 funding package from Royal Bank of Scotland.
Neilson’s Joinery Superstore supplies a range of products including timber, doors and windows, in addition to landscaping and joinery services to both tradespeople and DIY consumers.
Located in Lambhill, Chris and Barry have taken over a lease on a 14,500 sq. ft. showroom and with funding used to renovate the warehouse and cover other start-up costs.
The brothers have over 10 years of experience working in sales and logistics, having worked in leading Scottish building suppliers and therefore have an insight into what customers are looking for.
The business is in a strong position to support the local community, generating services and employment and has already created three new jobs. Early trading looks to be extremely encouraging, with the brothers already having to explore opportunities to expand the workforce even further, with 4 more employees.
Chris Neilson, co-owner of Neilson’s Joinery Superstore, said: “We’re proud to have opened Neilson’s Superstore within our local community as we believe it’s important to support local tradespeople. Our goal is to establish four depots across Glasgow, ensuring we become a strong local business.
“Royal Bank of Scotland has been instrumental in supporting our ambitions for the business and we are extremely grateful for their guidance through this process.”
Steven Sharpe, relationship manager at Royal Bank of Scotland, added: “Chris and Barry are well-positioned to build the reputation of Neilson’s having been involved in the industry for a number of years as well as having local insight and we wish them continued success.”
