Glasgow Housing Association takes delivery of new sustainable homes from CCG
The first of 51 new social houses have arrived on site in Glasgow’s south side as a new development being delivered by CCG (Scotland) Ltd on behalf of Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) progresses.
The development, which is situated at Tarfside Oval in South Cardonald, will consist of 21 storey flatted blocks, 12 semi-detached and terraced houses and 18 cottage flats. Five of the new homes will be fully wheelchair accessible and all will benefit from landscaped courtyards and cycle storage facilities.
Due for completion in December 2018, the development is within easy walking distance of local shopping amenities at Paisley Road West, as well as bus and train links.
GHA is part of Wheatley Group which is building thousands of new affordable homes in communities across Central Scotland.
Wheatley regeneration director, David Fletcher, said: “It’s good to see the first homes take shape at our new development in Tarfside Oval. The homes are part of the regeneration of the area and will provide quality affordable housing for local people.”
Glasgow-based manufacturing and construction firm CCG (Scotland) Ltd, which specialises in producing environmentally efficient homes using off-site construction methods, is leading on the new development.
Calum Murray, director of CCG (Scotland) Ltd, said: “The Tarfside Oval project has progressed well since we arrived on site in early January. We are using our own timber frame system for the build, a system that is precision-engineered to ensure quality and improved environmental performance when compared to traditional methods. Met with the use of solar panels, the development will achieve an Ecohomes ‘Very Good’ rating upon its completion.
“The first homes began construction in early April and we expect to have the entire development fully constructed, wind and watertight by the end of July.”
CCG and GHA are currently live on several housing projects across the city with over 140 homes under construction in addition to supporting a number of training and apprenticeship opportunities and local community projects.
