Glasgow to consult on Broomielaw and Clyde Street Avenues projects

A consultation event is to be held at The Briggait Arts Centre on Wednesday May 15th to provide Glaswegians with an opportunity to engage with the plans for two further Avenue projects coming to Glasgow city centre - the Broomielaw and Clyde Street Avenues.

The drop-in event will take place between 12pm and 3pm at the venue on 141 Bridge Street. Plans for both Avenues will be on display and the team working on the project will be on hand to answer any questions and receive feedback.

The Avenues programme is the biggest transformation of city centre streets in several decades, reprioritising road space to create more attractive, accessible and people-friendly spaces, and serving citizens, visitors and businesses.

The £115 million programme is being delivered through the Glasgow City Region City Deal, which is funded by the Scottish and UK Governments.

Councillor Ruairi Kelly, convener for Neighbourhood Services and Assets at Glasgow City Council, said: “The investment in the Avenues reflects the changes underway in the city centre, and the proposals for the Broomielaw and Clyde Street are great examples of their transformational potential.

“The consultation event at The Briggait offers an opportunity to find out more about the Avenues programme and the benefits they can bring. This is an ideal event for anyone with an interest in the future vitality, prosperity and sustainability of our city centre to contribute to that discussion.”
