The purchase marks one of the largest industrial land transactions in Fife in recent years and is expected to contribute to the regeneration of Glenrothes, stimulate the local economy, and generate jobs in the region.

With the help of the Fife Council Economic Development team, SWI identified Crompton Road East in Southfield Industrial Estate as the optimal site for the development of a large-scale whisky storage facility, bottling plant, cooperage, and office complex, critical to the company’s investment plans. 

Fife Council’s planning department granted approval for the project’s initial development phase in October 2022, following a successful public consultation in August 2022.

With the conclusion of the land sale, SWI can now commence the realisation of its vision to showcase the history of single-malt Scotch whisky, educate the public about it, and encourage investment in the commodity.

Scottish Development International has also worked closely with the company and InvestFife, showcasing the ‘Team Scotland’ approach to support investment.
