Go Awards Scotland success for Fife Council
Fife Council swept the board at the recent GO Awards Scotland ceremony.
The GO Awards Scotland recognise the achievements and successes in delivering Scottish public sector services, whether from the public, private or third sectors. This year’s ceremony took place on 24 October at the Crowne Plaza, Glasgow.
Fife Council won four awards on the night including the overall winner.
Dunfermline Learning Campus won:
- Collaborative Procurement Initiative Award
- Social Value Award - Local and Central Government
- Go Excellence Award (overall winner)
Fife Council worked with Hub East Central Scotland and contractor Bam, awarding £20m in contracts to local suppliers, delivering over 1800 weeks of apprenticeships on the contract and donating nearly £75k to local community projects. This is an excellent example of Social Value in practice; organisations giving back to their communities, making a real difference in people’s lives.
Fife Council’s Procurement Team successfully engaged with the marketplace, agreeing a realistic timetable for transitioning bus emissions standards over the next few years. In addition, there are now more than 150 of the Council’s contractors who are members of the ECO Stars Fleet Recognition Scheme and contract evaluation is more focussed on environmental practices, to contribute towards the aims of the Council’s Climate Fife Strategy and the 2045 Net Zero target.
After attending the ceremony, Councillor Altany Craik, Fife Council’s spokesperson for Finance, Economy and Strategic Planning, said: “Congratulations to all the winners - they deserve this recognition for a job well done.
“Fife Council is delivering innovative solutions in the face of many challenges including environmental and financial. Dunfermline Learning Campus and our environmental initiatives in passenger transport are excellent examples of collaborative working benefiting the whole community.”
The Scottish winners will go forward to the GO Awards National which will be held next May in Liverpool.
