Govanhill window replacement programme enters tenth phase
Tenants of Govanhill Housing Association are set to benefit from the latest phase of a housing improvement programme with the installation of new, high-quality windows.
Works are set to cover up to 89 properties and will be undertaken by specialist construction firm CCG (Scotland) Ltd.
All of the windows will be manufactured by the company’s in-house manufacturing division and installed by their expert building renewals division, CCG Specialist Building Services.
CCG has been involved throughout various phases of the Association’s planned maintenance programme most recently completing Phase 7 in North Govanhill consisting of 74 properties.
John McLardie, chairperson of Govanhill Housing Association, said: “This latest phase of replacing older window units with new double-glazed high-performance timber windows is an important aspect of the Association’s ongoing Major Repairs and Planned Maintenance programme which aims to reduce fuel bills for our tenants by improving energy efficiency. We look forward to another successful contract with CCG.
CCG manufacturing manager, John Paton, said: “Working with tenemental housing stock can be a challenge as the windows are not always the same size. That is why CCG perform a survey of every property prior to commencing manufacture ensuring that our client – in this case Govanhill Housing Association – benefit from right-first-time delivery.
“Our timber windows are designed and manufactured across a semi-automated CNC production line based at the CCG Group HQ in Cambuslang. Through precision engineering, our windows are manufactured to the highest quality standard and to exacting specification bringing an assurance of security as well as improved environmental performance. We also have innovative machines such as a robotic paint applier that allows us to consistently finish our windows prior to going to site, ultimately making the installation process faster and easier for CCG SBS and minimising disruption to tenants.
“We look forward to continuing our partnership with Govanhill Housing Association over the 20-week programme.”
CCG’s Construction division is also continuing works with the Association at Inglefield Street that will see 22 affordable new homes completed this summer. CCG Manufacturing also supplied timber windows, close entrance and internal doors for the project.
