Green light for homes on Dundee golf course

Plans to build 76 new homes on a Dundee golf course have been waved through by councillors.

Stewart Milne Homes wants to construct the homes as part of an intended 150-property development on land to the east of Ballumbie Road.

The site forms part of the southern side of Ballumbie Castle Golf Course. The golf club has stated it will reconfigure the layout so the course retains 18 holes.

Committee convener Will Dawson said he was sympathetic to the objectors’ concerns regarding the impact of the development on traffic on Ballumbie Road but there were no material considerations that would justify refusal of the application.

Marianne Evans, area director with Stewart Milne Homes, said the speed limit on the road would be reduced to 30mph from the border with Angus Council as part of the development.

As part of the development, Stewart Milne Homes will have to pay £4,337.17 per home to help pay for an extension to Ballumbie Primary School.
