Green light for new council homes in Drongan
East Ayrshire Council has approved plans for a dozen new council houses in Drongan.
Initially proposed as a 14-home development during last year’s consultation, the Mill of Shield Road development will consist of seven three-bedroom, with one larger four-bedroom property and four two-bedroom homes, including one for older and ambulant disabled people and one wheelchair accessible bungalow.
Each property will have at least two parking spaces with a further three visitors spaces being created.
Ahead of the consultation, Robert McCulloch, interim head of housing and communities, said the development proposed for Mill O’Shield Road and Hannahston Avenue would “benefit the local community, particularly older and vulnerable people”.
Plans for the area, which are set out in the Strategic Housing Investment Plan (SHIP) 2020-25, were progressed by the council’s developer, CCG (Scotland) Ltd, and its design team including MAST Architects.
