The firm has been shortlisted in the Business Resilience category and the Inverurie Community Campus development, on which it was design team leader, has reached the finals in the Architectural Excellence Award (Public Use) section.

The Scottish Property Awards - now in its eighth year - is a national competition celebrating excellence in Scottish real estate. This year it attracted entries from over 50 businesses dedicated to positive change and property development in Scotland.

With last year being dominated by Covid-19, Halliday Fraser Munro demonstrated its resilience by responding quickly and effectively to the pandemic. The firm ensured it could continue to offer its usual high level of service to clients. It helped clients adapt to lockdown restrictions, while prioritising the health and safety and wellbeing of all its colleagues.

The firm introduced a number of initiatives, such as: reshaping the work experience it offers the next generation of architects and planners for an online world, including a Virtual Learning Zone and Studio; launching a virtual Design a House competition for school pupils and sponsoring the first virtual Build Your Future Schools Challenge.

It also provided mental health support to colleagues and set the 150 Challenge in support of charity SAMH. This involved undertake 150 activities or achievements to mark 150 days of lockdown last summer, from cycling 150km to baking 150 cup cakes. The firm also supported Cash for Kids by donating the money saved by having its Christmas Party online

Throughout the pandemic, Halliday Fraser Munro continued to perform strongly. It maintained service on over £500 million worth of construction projects nationally, while winning £100m worth of new work.

Turning to the Architectural Excellence Award (Public Use) category, Halliday Fraser Munro was the design team leader for the stunning new £55 million Inverurie Community Campus in the heart of the Aberdeenshire town. The new development replaced two existing community buildings and incorporated two existing schools under one roof to provide a new civic centre for the town and the surrounding area.

Inverurie Community Campus, developed with hub North Scotland, Aberdeenshire Council and Robertson Group, has also reached the finals in the Development of the Year (Public Buildings) category.

David Halliday, managing director of Halliday Fraser Munro, said: “We’re honoured to be shortlisted in two categories in the prestigious Scottish Property Awards. It’s credit to everyone in our firm that, despite the ongoing pressures of the pandemic, we have continued to perform well as a business and produce consistently excellent results for our clients.

“Our staff have shown how resilient they are, and we have focused on their wellbeing, as well as maintaining a high level of service for our clients. Thanks to our investment in IT and infrastructure we were quickly able to adapt to new ways of working when Covid-19 hit.

“And we’re pleased that our work on the multi-million pound Inverurie Community Campus, with our partners, has been recognised. It’s a development for the town to be proud of.

“We’re looking forward to the finals of the awards in March.”
