Stuart Rowan (site manager); Deryck Schendel (regional health & safety advisor) and John Houston (assistant site manager) along with Jacqui Steven (sales executive) welcome Primary 3 pupils from St Mark’s Primary to Taylor Wimpey’s Oakwood Grove development at Brackenhill, Hamilton

Taylor Wimpey West Scotland invited children from St Mark’s Primary to visit its Oakwood Grove development and mark the launch of two show homes.

During their visit, the children from Primary 3 also had an opportunity to see some of the new homes that are under various stages of construction at the development located in the Brackenhill area of Hamilton.

The visit forms part of the housebuilder’s commitment to playing a key role in the local community, as Stuart Rowan, site manager at Oakwood Grove, added: “We really enjoyed meeting the children from Primary 3 at St Mark’s Primary School and being able to give them an insight into how we are building new homes in Brackenhill, Hamilton.

“With lots of interesting questions, we also hope that we have inspired a few of the youngsters to consider the housebuilding industry in the future.”

Whilst the children were at the development, the team also took the opportunity to remind them never to play near a building site and that a school visit was extra-special because normally there are no children allowed near any construction. Never playing near a construction site is a message that Taylor Wimpey is keen to reinforce to the wider local community – especially ahead of the summer school holiday.

Principal teacher at St Mark’s Primary School, Emma Cumming, said: “Our Primary 3 children thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Taylor Wimpey’s Oakwood Grove development. Their new homes are under construction in our local area, and I appreciated the team taking the time to remind the children to never play near a construction site. This is a message that we’ve taken back to school to share with everyone.

“During our visit, the children asked lots of questions to learn more about the building process, and they really enjoyed seeing the different stages that it takes to build a new house in real-life. And from their excited reactions, we know they absolutely loved the show homes.”
