Hardies Property & Construction Consultants has marked its 110-year anniversary by fundraising for youth homelessness charity Centrepoint.

Having invited each of its 13 offices throughout the UK to create an event centred around the number 110 to raise funds for Centrepoint and other local charities, a total of £1,200 was raised through a range of activities, including staff running 110K each month for a year; cycling virtually up mount Everest and baking 110 cakes for a charity coffee morning.

Danny McArthur, Hardies’ managing partner, said: “We chose Centrepoint as our designated charity partner in our anniversary year in response to the housing crisis and cost-of-living crisis, which we know have significantly impacted younger people.

“Centrepoint does amazing things to support young people, and we are delighted to play a part in helping it achieve its goal of seeking to end youth homelessness.

“Hardies has two housing departments: one focusing on building new affordable homes (Housing Partnerships) and the other on housing stock condition surveys, energy audits and research consultancy (Housing Consultancy). As such, it seemed fitting to choose Centrepoint as our charity partner, given its focus on housing and homelessness.”

Miranda Harman, head of mass participation and events at Centrepoint, added: “We are so grateful to the Hardies team for their donation, which will help us in our work supporting young people experiencing homelessness into a job and a home.

“This could not have come at a more crucial time for Centrepoint and the young people we support. Last year, 136,000 young people faced homelessness, a record high, and all the indications are that number will increase again.”
