Hearts submits plans for hotel rooms in Tynecastle

Heart of Midlothian FC has submitted plans to create a 22-room hotel within Tynecastle Stadium.

Plans lodged with City of Edinburgh Council state that the new bedrooms will be located in a disused section of the main stand which was previously granted consent for use as hospitality lounges and office space.

Manchester-based architectural practice Leach Rhodes Walker has designed the hotel, which will include rooms themed around Hearts.

A design statement accompanying the planning application states: “There’s a distinct lack of available guest rooms within a short walking distance from Tynecastle Park, with the majority of hotels situated toward Edinburgh Castle from the site.

“With the vast supporter base in the area and tourism pull of Hearts FC, there’s demand for a hotel proposal to facilitate match day experiences, tours and events to boost the value of the stadium and football club to the local area.

“There’s also opportunity for the guest rooms to be occupied during match days or events at Murrayfield Stadium which is only a 10mins walk from the site.”
