HHA lodges plans for new homes in Drumnadrochit
HHA, the Inverness-based not-for-profit property development company, has submitted a planning application to Highland Council to create 15 new homes in Drumnadrochit.
About this development:
- Authority:Highland
- Type:Residential
- Applications:
- Team:Highland Housing Alliance (developer), Bracewell Stirling (architect)
In a bid to increase the provision of much-needed homes across the region, proposals seek to transform derelict space into high-quality affordable housing options for the community.
Situated to the south of Drumnadrochit, the proposed development will provide an aesthetically pleasing addition to the village with a design and finish that complements the surroundings, including the neighbouring residential developments.
Working alongside planning officers, technical consultees and with community input welcomed throughout, feedback from the pre-application stage has been actioned and the new plans include updates on open space, parking layout, and material features.
If the development is to get the green light, the Bracewell Stirling-designed energy-efficient homes would include bright open-plan living space with attractive communal outdoor areas, complete with secure cycle storage and private parking spaces. A bespoke stone wall is proposed to edge the development, which would also incorporate public art into the design.
Gail Matheson, chief executive of HHA, said: “Alongside Highland Council, we recognise that there is an acute demand for homes across the region and in a bid to retain the younger generation staying up north and locally, it is imperative that we provide suitable housing options.
“Alongside our key stakeholders and design team, we have refined plans to arrive at a well-considered and connected housing development that will be attractive to a range of prospective tenants which they can hopefully make their home. Our plans align with wider Highland Council objectives to boost the housing options and we are hopeful that we can progress with our vision in the months ahead.”
Environmental factors have also been instrumental as HHA ensures the development adheres to best practice for surface water drainage, sustainably sourced materials and includes vehicle charging points as an integral element of the development.
