Highland village expansion to create 100 jobs
Around 100 jobs could be created as part of the development of a 50-acre site on the edge of Muir of Ord, a village around 20 kilometres west of Inverness.
Up to 60 homes, at least a dozen offices, a garden centre and parkland will be built on the farmland site if planning permission is granted by councillors at the north planning applications committee tomorrow.
Planning officers have recommended the approval of the plans, subject to an agreement with the developer on a contribution towards affordable housing, education, community facilities and public transport.
The development, which is being pursued by landowner Iain Elliot, will be built in phases and is not expected to be completed until 2019.
Around 25 of the 60 homes to be built are proposed to be affordable housing, while the 13 planned office units are suitable for small firms with between five and ten employees.
The agents are also looking at the possibility of incorporating public art in the scheme and employing a dry stone wall artist to work on landscaping.
