Hillcrest has submitted plans to Dundee City Council to convert a 100-year-old care home in Broughty Ferry into residential apartments.

Ferry House closed its doors for good in March this year after the building was deemed no longer fit for purpose. The B-listed building located on Gray Street served as a residential home for elderly women for 103 years.

If approved, the vacant premises will be turned into seven residential flats, comprising of a mix of three, two and one-bedroom apartments.

Hillcrest is aiming to re-use the majority of the existing rooms.

The plan also entails the original entrance foyer and staircase being retained and used as a communal lobby for four of the apartments, the Courier reports.

The main dining room and lounge will also be maintained as “living spaces” for the respective flats, while the “secondary staircase” at the rear of the building will be removed.
