Hillcrest to begin work on 119 apartments at Dundee’s City Quay
Hillcrest Housing Association is set to begin a 119 new home development programme costing £13 million in Dundee’s City Quay next month.
Work on the large development of 119 affordable modern apartments on Dundee’s waterfront will consist of 53 good quality flats for social rent and 66 for mid-market rent spread across two apartment blocks, a welcome boost to the city’s affordable housing provision.
These properties located at Dundee’s Victoria Dock, will offer a mixture of two and three bedrooms. The development will be constructed by affordable housing developer Cullross, who will deliver its two modern apartment blocks within the city’s wider waterfront regeneration area.
The ground floor of the apartment block located on Victoria Dock Road will also offer space for retail units which will allow for the first local convenience store to be located at City Quay.
The completion date for these homes is expected to be in around October 2021. The properties will also offer a range of modern energy-efficiency measures to help tenants save money on energy bills. Such measures will include energy-saving windows and doors, gas central heating, state of the art insulation and cladding, smart meters and boilers fitted with gas savers.
Hillcrest director of development, David Zwirlein, said: “Hillcrest are delighted to be developing 119 new affordable homes in a fantastic location on the Dundee waterfront. Right in the heart of the city’s wider waterfront redevelopment, these good quality homes will offer unrivalled views over the River Tay and back inland over the city, and will come with the latest energy efficiency measures to help tenants save on bills.”
Cullross consultant Emma Garry added: “This is such an exciting opportunity to deliver new affordable homes in Dundee’s Waterfront, only a stone’s throw from the V&A, with magnificent views on to the Tay and very close to the city centre amenities. It really will be a fantastic place to live.”
