HLM recognised in prestigious good employer guide

The renowned Building Good Employer Guide 2018 has ranked design and architecture practice HLM as one of the top 10 employers within the UK construction industry.

Beating stiff competition, HLM additionally topped the flexible working and parental policies category for its efforts in making remote and agile working easier for the team in Glasgow, across the UK and internationally.

The recognition is a direct reflection of the practice’s strong people development efforts, including the HLM Academy, lifestyle packages and family friendly initiatives. The HLM Academy is a professional excellence programme which helps ensure all employees receive training and development opportunities, enabling its team to work to the best of their ability.

Karen Mosley, managing director at HLM, said: “Our staff have always been at the heart of our business and its their commitment that drives our success as an architectural practice. This recognition by a leading national publication is testament to the time we spend making sure we have a great working environment and support every member of our team. Being benchmarked against our peers and coming out in the top 10 is the icing on the cake.”

The Building Good Employer Guide judges said: “HLM has an exceptional approach to flexible working and parental policies.

“A standout element is the option of a nine-day fortnight, which has proved extremely popular, but the company runs a range of measures designed to fit in with workers’ lives, meaning that valued members stay when they otherwise might have left and a wider pool of potential workers is available.”

HLM was also a finalist in the Architectural Practice of the Year category in the Building Awards 2018.
