Home Bargains seeks permission for new distribution hub and offices in Cumbernauld

Retailer Home Bargains has submitted plans to North Lanarkshire Council to build a distribution hub and offices in a move that would create 400 new jobs at a brownfield site in Castlecary, Cumbernauld.

The firm’s parent company TJ Morris has said that its proposals for the 7.81 hectare site will support its expansion plans.

A spokesperson from the company said: “Our plan to invest in a new distribution hub in Scotland shows our long-term commitment to continuing our growth.

“This investment will allow Home Bargains to meet the demands of our customers both now, and in the future.”

If approved, construction at the site is expected to start in early 2023, with the facility becoming operational in 2025, The Herald reports.

The spokesperson concluded that the firm is “hugely excited” about the potential for the plans in the area.
