Home Group delivers more than 100 new social homes in Edinburgh

People desperate for affordable housing in Edinburgh will soon be able to apply for one of more than 100 homes being built in the city and its outskirts.

Homes in Edinburgh city centre, Ratho, and Maybury are ready for people to move into, while others are close to being finished.

Of the 102 homes being built across the city by Home in Scotland, 91 are for social rent, with the remaining 11 for mid-market rent.

The properties range from new builds to the regeneration of the former Royal Hospital in the Marchmont area of the city.

In Ratho, 18 flats and six houses are being built, ranging from one-bed flats to three-bed houses.

In Maybury, 36 flats and 11 houses are being built. They range from two-bed flats to four-bed houses. Both developments are due to be fully complete by late spring, while some are ready to move into. All are for social rent.

In the old ‘Royal Hospital’, there are 31 one- and two-bedroom flats.

Home in Scotland also expects to complete 19 new houses at Winchburgh by early summer.

Bryony Willett, director for Home in Scotland, said: “We are acutely aware of the need for more social housing in Edinburgh, and that is why we are delighted that these homes will soon be available.

“We are committed to providing the right homes in the places. Last year we delivered over 460 affordable homes across the country.”
