Housing transformation of former Calderwood Lodge Primary School begins
Construction works have officially commenced at the former Calderwood Lodge Primary School in the south side of Glasgow.
Overlooking Newlands Park on Calderwood Road, the school closed in 2017 and has since been purchased by private housing developer CCG Homes which received planning permission to create a new development of 20 homes earlier this year.
Demolition of a former, two-storey 1960s classroom block has already been completed whilst works are ongoing to an existing, Victorian sandstone villa that will be conserved and upgraded to form part of the new ‘Calderwood Lodge’ development plan.
A total of 4 two and three-bedroom apartments will be contained within the sandstone villa itself with a further 15 two and three-bedroom new build apartments – including two penthouses – conceived alongside a three-bedroom, mews house.
Landscaped, communal gardens and private parking will also be provided with the adjacent Newlands Park offering additional amenity and recreational space as well as views towards the city.
CCG Homes managing director, Calum Murray, said: “This is a big milestone for CCG Homes. ‘Calderwood Lodge’ is an incredibly exciting project and the works undertaken to date have already remarkable transformation of the site at street level.
“Formal construction works will now be undertaken by CCG (Scotland) with the restoration of the Victorian villa and the new build construction of the new homes each forming a truly unique offering to be part of Glasgow’s heritage in one of the city’s most sought-after postcodes.
“We have received an incredible amount of sales interest in the development and we will aim to have updates on a formal sales launch communicated to prospective purchasers before the end of this year.”
CCG Homes is currently live on a second development located in Cambuslang. Western Terrace was launched this autumn with 13 of its 17 ‘early-bird release properties now sold from a total of 81 two and three-bedroom homes. The development is set for completion in early-2023.
