Ideas sought on future development of West Lothian

The views of West Lothian people, businesses and organisations are being sought to help shape future development in their area.
West Lothian Council is preparing a new Local Development Plan (LDP2), which will set out the use and development of land across the area for the next 10 years.
As part of this process, planners have issued a Call for ideas for local people to suggest what they would like to see included in the plan.
This could be around: green or open spaces; transport such as roads, public transport infrastructure or active travel; historic sites; new housing developments; access to healthcare; retail and tourism; and much more.
For more details, or to submit your suggestions, please visit Local Development Plan 2 (LDP 2) before 30 May 2025.
A West Lothian Council spokesperson said: “We would encourage any West Lothian resident, business or community group with ideas on improving their local area to come forward.
“We’re looking for suggestions on protecting sites, improving public spaces, creating footpaths, or redeveloping areas, to shape how West Lothian develops over the next decade.
“The Call for Ideas stage of the consultation runs until 30 May 2025, and you can see all the ways to take part at Local Development Plan 2.”
