Initial plans for Tranent housing development to be unveiled
The details of a proposed new housing development in Tranent will be revealed next week.
Members of the public can learn about Persimmon Homes East Scotland’s plans for land located between Lammermoor Terrace and the industrial units off Elphinstone Road on Wednesday.
The firm has not yet stated how many new homes or what size the properties would be on the site, which is currently farmland.
A spokesperson for Persimmon Homes East Scotland, said: “Persimmon Homes will host an online interactive consultation event on Thursday, January 13, between 3pm and 7pm.
“Members of the public are invited to post questions on the proposals and a member of our team will be online to answer.”
A formal application would need to be submitted to East Lothian Council following the public consultation. Members of the public would be given another chance to look at the plans and make any comment before they are potentially scrutinised by the council’s planning committee.
The town’s councillors, and the community council, were made aware of the early plans towards the end of November, the East Lothian Courier reports.
When the proposals were submitted, a spokesperson for the developer added: “We are in the early stages of the planning process that could deliver much-needed new homes, investment and jobs in Tranent.
“The land at Lammermoor Terrace has been allocated for housing in the adopted Local Development Plan and we are looking forward to welcoming stakeholders and the local community to the online consultation event to discuss our initial proposals.”
