Innovative Glasgow West End residential development takes shape
An innovative new residential development in the heart of Glasgow’s West End is quickly taking shape with sections of the homes delivered to site this week.
Developed by NOAH and built by Glasgow construction and manufacturing company CCG, Hillside Gardens Lane offers six contemporary townhouses designed by Hoskins Architects to complement the surrounding Victorian architecture.
The development will include landscaped gardens, conserve existing historical features of the adjacent Partickhill Bowling Club whilst also renovating and enhancing the clubhouse.
The townhouses are being built in CCG’s state of the art offsite manufacturing facility in Cambuslang and were transported to the site this week for final assembly. Building the homes offsite in factory conditions significantly reduces build time, improves environmental efficiency and minimises waste.
This manufacturing technique is increasingly popular for residential and commercial build and has been used in a range of projects across Glasgow including The Observatory, a 19 bespoke flat development that was awarded Development of the Year 2015 by the Herald Property Awards, and The Ballet School, a 66 unit student accommodation project located on West Princes Street.
Paul Winocour, director, NOAH said: “We are delighted to have appointed CCG as main contractor to this exciting development, having enjoyed a successful relationship with them on previous projects over a number of years.”
Calum Murray, director, CCG said: “This is our fourth development in the West End over the past two years. This particular development has been a testament to the benefits of offsite construction enabling us to build on a constrained site which would traditionally have been difficult to access.”
The six homes at Hillside Gardens Lane are created over three levels and placed in a tranquil lane and garden setting in the heart of the West End’s Conservation Area.
With south facing aspect and open views over private gardens and one of Glasgow’s oldest bowling greens, these homes are carefully integrated into the immediate environment yet distinct in identity. Each townhouse will also benefit from dedicated parking.
