Interserve to unveil ‘disappointing’ UK performance as new director joins
Interserve has appointed a new director as the firm prepares to unveil a “disappointing performance” at its UK construction division.
In an update on its 2016 performance today, the support services and construction group said: “Overall Group trading has remained in line with previous guidance and expectations for full-year headline results are unchanged.
“Within this overall performance, we are anticipating that strong international construction and equipment services results will broadly offset a disappointing performance in UK construction.”
Last year Interserve announced it has set aside a £70 million provision for the troubled Glasgow Recycling and Renewable Energy Centre project where its contract has now been terminated.
It has also announced that Gareth Edwards, currently a director of Positive Healthcare plc and partner at law firm Pinsent Masons, will join the board as a non-executive director from 1 February 2017.
Glyn Barker, chairman of Interserve, said: “I am delighted to welcome Gareth to Interserve. His commercial background and his extensive international experience, particularly in the Middle East, will bring great value to the board.”
The net debt position of the business is also expected to be better than previously guided, at £270-280m.
Chief executive Adrian Ringrose is also stepping down from the business.
Preliminary results for the year ended 31 December 2016 will be announced on February 28.
