ISG secures £5m Merchant City project win
ISG has been awarded a £5 million contract to redevelop a building within Glasgow’s Merchant City Central Conservation Area into additional retail and office space.
The project for London based asset managers Castleforge Partners, sees the construction services company sympathetically restore and completely refurbish the seven storey, category B listed property at 112 Ingram Street, to create quality retail and design focused office accommodation.
Upon completion of an initial strip out, the shell of two large retail units across the basement, ground and first floor levels will be created, with basement shower/changing rooms and storage included. ISG will create open plan office areas on the upper six floors, including a full overhaul of the existing windows and the introduction of new finishes in keeping with the building’s listed status.
A spacious office reception area will be created on the ground floor and two new lifts, serving the offices on the six upper floors, will also be installed. The existing stairwells will be retained and refurbished, whilst the building’s mechanical and electrical services will be upgraded.
The exterior of the red sandstone building, which dates back to 1898, will be conserved and restored with roof lead, slate and rooflights being renewed.
Andy McLinden, regional managing director of ISG’s Scotland and Northern England construction business, said: “Securing new opportunities is the lifeblood of every business and we are delighted to add Castleforge Partners to our growing portfolio of prestigious clients. The Ingram Street property is well known to residents of Glasgow and we look forward to successfully delivering this project which will not only restore and enhance the building, but also add to the commercial vitality of the city.”
