Jim Steele named Scottish regional director civils at Farrans
Building and civil engineering contractor Farrans has started 2020 by announcing the appointment of Jim Steele as its new Scottish regional director civils.
Well-known in Scottish civil engineering circles having held senior positions in the industry, Jim was recently a board director at Galliford Try Infrastructure.
Farrans said the appointment will further strengthen its position in Scotland and help build on recent success including the construction of the A737 Dalry Bypass and current projects including the new A90/A96 Haudagain Junction in Aberdeen and the York Place to Newhaven phase of the Edinburgh Trams.
The firm added: “In his new role, Jim brings his extensive experience, which covers delivering a wide range of projects in various sectors including road infrastructure, renewables, oil and gas and utilities.
“He has been responsible for the delivery of many diverse and technically demanding projects, procured under stringent contract conditions.
“Jim’s commitment to partnership and approach to collaborative risk management has helped him develop a reputation for delivering high-quality projects which went beyond client expectations and helped Jim develop long term relationships with clients across Scotland. Developing excellent client relationship has been Jim’s focus throughout his career.”
Some of Jim’s career highlights include working as a tier 2 supplier to the EPC Contractor on the £3 billion Laggon Towmore Gas Plant in Shetland and working in joint venture with three other partners to steer the £440 million M74 extension project to a successful outcome.
A personal triumph remains the delivery of the Millennium Wheel in Falkirk, on which Jim was project manager.
