JLL unveils new head of planning

Ally Campbell

JLL has appointed a new head of planning in Scotland.

Ally Campbell brings 25 years of experience in the planning sector. This includes a period at property consultants Montagu Evans where she worked her way up from the role of graduate to partner and delivered a number of high-profile planning permissions.

Projects Ally has worked on include major retail developments, purpose-built student accommodation, hotel and office conversions within both Edinburgh and Glasgow city centres, leisure development at Hillend Snowsports Centre and residential land allocations throughout Scotland. She has also worked as a planning officer for Stirling and Fife councils.

In her new role, Ally will lead JLL’s Scottish planning team from the firm’s Edinburgh and Glasgow offices as it seeks to offer end-to-end support to clients throughout the planning process.

It marks the latest investment that JLL has made in its Scotland team, having announced a number of promotions at the start of the year. Janey Douglas was promoted to senior director in the capital markets team and Andrew McCracken became a director in the industrial and logistics team.

Cameron Stott, head of Scotland at JLL, said: “We’re committed to making sure we continue to offer the best quality service to our clients, and Ally joining our team is just the latest example of that.

“Across all sectors, development is incredibly challenging in the current climate and it is so important for developers to receive sound commercial advice. As an example, we have a shortage of homes in Scotland at the moment, so it’s important that developers are able to access the support they need to manage the planning process and provide a welcome boost to our housing stock. Ally brings a wealth of experience in this area and marks an important addition to our team.”

Ally Campbell, head of planning at JLL, said: “JLL has a strong reputation for providing developers with invaluable support. With planning increasingly a topic of national conversation, it’s an exciting time to be joining the team and working with businesses to help progress developments across Scotland. Having worked on major developments in both the public and private sector, I’m now looking forward to bringing this experience to one of the industry’s leading agencies.”
