JR Group makes £4,000 donation to Lighthouse charity
Members of The JR Group team attended The Lighthouse Construction Charity Scotland West Annual Dinner, an event which took place at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow, highlighting the charity’s work supporting workers within the construction impacted by mental health challenges.
The aim of the event was to help raise awareness of the charity’s work, providing emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to workers in Scotland’s construction community and their families. To support the charity’s ongoing work, The JR Group donated around £4000 during the fundraising evening.
Stephen Robertson, contracts manager of The JR Group, said: “The Lighthouse Scotland West annual dinner is always a fantastic event and this year, we were proud to be able to donate towards the event fundraising total to help them continue to highlight the importance of positive wellbeing and mental health support within the construction industry.”
By working with the Lighthouse Club, the Paisley-based firm provides its 200-strong workforce with access to a wide range of services such as the charity’s 24/7 Construction Industry Helpline, which provides a range of free and confidential wellbeing support services for employees to use if required.
Staff members at The JR Group are also encouraged to download the charity’s Construction Industry Helpline App, which offers expert guidance on a variety of wellbeing issues.
Stephen added: “Within the construction industry in particular, it can be very challenging for workers to feel comfortable to be able to openly discuss their mental health and wellbeing and as a result, there’s a higher risk of suicide among people within our industry. At The JR Group, we’ve always strived to support our team, break the stigma around mental health and give our employees access to great resources like the Lighthouse Club.”
