Keepmoat Homes celebrates two years in Scotland with senior appointment
Keepmoat Homes has marked the end of its second year of operations in Scotland with the senior appointment of Peter Matthews as new regional managing director.
The homebuilder opened its regional office in Glasgow in 2016 and since then has brought over 200 new homes to the country through a number of multi-million pound developments.
There are now 84 members of staff at the region and the team has ambitious plans for the future, aiming to deliver over 300 new homes through managed and controlled growth by 2019.
Peter Matthews has joined Keepmoat Homes to head up the Scotland team after spending over ten years at Taylor Wimpey, where he was most recently managing director for East Scotland.
He brings decades of experience in management positions at companies including RAC plc, Reuters plc and Goldman Sachs International.
Speaking about his new appointment, Peter said: “I am very excited to have joined Keepmoat and about the growth prospects for our business in Scotland.
“There is a fantastic opportunity here to build new communities and transform the lives of our customers using Keepmoat Home’s partnership model.
“Our priority in Scotland is to continue to deliver our planned growth, in a controlled manner, by focusing first and foremost on the needs and desires of our customers.”
Keepmoat’s first development in Scotland was Langlea in Cambuslang, Glasgow, which delivered 28 new homes. This was followed by a further eight developments across the country, with the latest offering from the homebuilder being the 826 homes it is creating at the Sighthill Transformational Regeneration Area (TRA) in Glasgow. This is the biggest regeneration scheme of its type in the UK outside of London.
The demand for new high quality homes across Scotland is a key factor in Keepmoat’s ongoing success. Its Broomview Development in North Sighthill, Edinburgh proved so popular that people even began queueing at midnight in an aim to secure a property at the launch event taking place the next day.
Recent success and expansion has also seen Keepmoat promote colleague Beth McNeil to operations director. Beth will work closely with Peter and with all departments in the region to support the delivery of business targets and grow the team.
Sandy McBride, divisional chairman, North West and Scotland, said: “We have achieved great things in Scotland over the last two years and I am delighted to welcome Peter to the team as we continue to build on our work there and meet the ongoing demand for new homes.
“Congratulations must also go to Beth who has been with the Scotland team from the very beginning and has excelled in her previous roles, leading to her new promotion as Operations Director.
“The vision of Keepmoat Homes goes far beyond bricks and mortar as we strive to create new neighbourhoods, support communities and transform lives through our work – I know that Peter and Beth will work with the rest of the team to continue this vision as we grow our business in Scotland.”
