Kier Construction has been appointed by NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde to carry out a survey and review of the fabric and building services at Inverclyde Royal Hospital in Greenock and the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.

The appointment, through the Health Facilities Scotland Frameworks Scotland 2, will inform a series of potential projects designed to improve the environmental efficiencies of the hospitals, as well as enhancing the patient experience.

It is anticipated that the surveys, which are due to begin this month, will be completed by the end of March 2015.

Kier Construction’s managing director for Scotland & north-east England, Brian McQuade, said the project is a “very important” one for patients and staff, as well as for NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.

He added: “We have a significant track record of delivering such projects through the English NHS framework, P21+, and we are confident that the experience gained on those projects will ensure the effective and efficient delivery of this project to enhance the environment that patients experience when visiting the hospitals, as well as improving the environmental operation of the hospital.”
