The redevelopment forms part of an overall investment of £15.5m into the six-storey building to establish it as the centre of Strathclyde’s UK-leading Department of Biomedical Engineering.

The programme of work comprises of providing new facilities, including research and teaching laboratories, increased office accommodation for staff and students and new social spaces for students.

The work is due to start shortly and the building is due to be completed by early 2020.

This latest win builds on the higher education portfolio of projects that Kier is currently delivering, including the completion of a £14m redevelopment of Edinburgh College of Art and a £7.7m redevelopment of Murchison House, both for the University of Edinburgh. Kier has also recently completed work at the University of Aberdeen, Abertay University, Robert Gordon University and the University of the West of Scotland.
