Kirkwood Homes appeals Balgillo Heights expansion

The existing Balgillo Heights development

Kirkwood Homes has appealed to the Scottish Government after Dundee City Council rejected its plan to add 38 houses to its Balgillo Heights development in Broughty Ferry.

The council refused planning permission in August, citing concerns over a lack of public transport links. Kirkwood, however, insists the development includes a planned bus service to Dundee city centre, funded for three years in partnership with Stagecoach.

The developer claims the council’s decision was based on “misinformation” and highlights the site’s proximity to local amenities, The Courier reports.

This appeal follows another lodged by Kirkwood last week to avoid contributing towards a new school, arguing that nearby Forthill Primary School has sufficient capacity.
