Leiths (Scotland) acquires Aberdeenshire stone supplier
Aberdeen-based quarrying and construction materials group Leiths (Scotland) has acquired the business of local stone supplier and processor Fyfe Glenrock.
Leiths, whose own construction and quarrying business is run from Cove, said it was now the owner of Oldmeldrum-based Fyfe Glenrock, though the value of the deal was undisclosed.
Fyfe Glenrock employs 19 people in the cutting, polishing and engraving of natural stone and had supplied wall and floor materials for the Scottish Parliament.
It can trace its history back to 1846, when John Fyfe Limited was established at the famous silver-granite quarries at Kenmay.
Fyfe Glenrock was previously owned by major stone importer and supplier Pisani, based in Feltham, near London Heathrow Airport, which collapsed into administration in June.
Leiths employs about 570 people and turns over around £72 million a year.
Chairman Ian Leith told The Press & Journal: “The acquisition of Fyfe Glenrock adds another quality business to the group’s portfolio. I personally look forward to working with the team and developing a company that has deep roots in Aberdeenshire and that I have long admired.”
