Lovell lays foundation for better mental health with wellbeing activities

Lovell, Morgan Sindall Construction and Morgan Sindall Infrastructure united to mark Mental Health Awareness Week last week with a series of wellbeing activities, including a pop-up office gym for their employees across Scotland.

This year’s theme is ‘movement’ and throughout the week, the team members took part in fitness activities and games with prizes to be won, all aimed at boosting mental wellbeing.

At their shared offices in Motherwell, professional fitness equipment, including exercise bikes, climbers, and treadmills have been installed as well as shuffleboards to encourage the team to get active together. At each of the developments at Glow Garren in Hamilton, The Crossings in South Queensferry and Oakwood Edge in Mayfield dart boards have been installed to bring teams together and increase movement. In addition, all staff took part in a walking challenge to see who could get the most steps.

William Lindsay, health and safety manager in Scotland, said: “Our employees’ mental health and wellbeing is our highest priority. Working in the construction sector is a hugely rewarding career choice, but as with all workplaces, our staff can experience stress and mental health challenges. This week is aimed at ensuring our employees feel supported, respected, and encouraged to prioritise their mental health.

“This week’s activities have been designed to involve our entire team, from our office-based colleagues to our construction teams and supply chain partners and promises to be a blend of fun, fitness and friendly competition.”

In addition to the scheduled events, Lovell offers continuous mental health support through a range of programmes. Employees have access to professional support and therapy to enhance their mental and emotional wellbeing.
