Macduff Town Hall goes on the market as development opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for someone to purchase the Macduff Town Hall which has become surplus to requirements.

Aberdeenshire Council’s Estates Team is seeking offers for the property that would lend itself to a number of commercial, residential or community uses.

Built in 1884, the B-listed detached property benefits from a very prominent location on the town’s Shore Street, offering stunning views across the harbour and out over the Moray Firth.

The site area covers around 600sqm, with the town hall building occupying most of the site. The front elevation on Shore Street has three storeys, and the rear elevation on Church Street is single storey.

Its front elevation is of whinstone construction with ashlar dressings, while the side and rear elevations are granite rubble construction.

Macduff has a population of around 3,800 and is separated from the neighbouring town of Banff by the River Deveron.

Banff has a population of approximately 4,000 and the two towns together offer an excellent selection of commercial, leisure, and community facilities. Both towns are served by Banff Academy secondary school and there is good primary school provision.
