Ayrshire-based Stuart was praised after landing a prestigious ‘Quality Award’ in the 2021 National House Building Council’s flagship Pride in the Job Awards.

The honour, in connection with his work at Mactaggart & Mickel’s Greenan Views development in Doonfoot, is the latest in a series of personal successes for Stuart.

It follows four UK Supreme wins, four UK Supreme runner-up awards and 12 NHBC Scottish regional awards.

Commenting on the accolade, Stuart, who lives in Wishaw, said: “I’m delighted to have won a Quality Award as a reflection of the tremendous team of company colleagues and sub-contractors who have overcome immense challenges created by the coronavirus pandemic.

We have been driven on by a determination to deliver homes that maintain the exceptional standards that make Mactaggart & Mickel such a distinguished company and we’re proud that Greenan Views is proving to be so popular.”

The competition recognises site managers who have achieved the very highest standards in housebuilding across the UK.

From a field of more than 10,000, Stuart was among 450 site managers to win a Quality Award in the first round of NHBC’s Pride in the Job Awards 2021.

This represents the top five per cent of those who entered the most highly-regarded competition.

Peter Shepherd, Mactaggart & Mickel Homes chairman, said: “I’m really pleased that Stuart has once again achieved a quality award from the NHBC because he epitomises the exceptional standards that Mactaggart & Mickel stand for.

Stuart is inspired by a determination to ensure Mactaggart & Mickel produce homes of outstanding quality and he has been a brilliant leader to colleagues and sub-contractors amid the unparalleled challenge created by Covid-19 restrictions.”

As a Quality Award winner, Stuart will compete for Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards in the autumn, with the national Supreme Award winners unveiled in January 2022.

NHBC chief executive Steve Wood said: “Pride in the Job has been pivotal in improving the quality of new homes for more than 40 years.

“Despite the challenges the industry has faced, the very best site managers of 2021 have remained focused on delivering high-quality new homes for their customers.

“We are very proud of Pride in the Job, what it stands for and the impact it has across the sector. Pride in the Job-winning sites have higher levels of homeowner satisfaction as these homes are among the very best in the country.”

Judging for the awards is rigorous, with the current competition beginning in July 2020 and each site manager assessed across six areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise, and health and safety.
