Malcolm Fraser Architects ceases trading
Edinburgh-based Malcolm Fraser Architects has announced that it has ceased trading as of August 21 after failing to make its “beautiful and important” work profitable.
Established in 1993, the practice has won eight RIBA Awards and has been Stirling-prize shortlisted and a Doolan Prize winner for DanceBase in Edinburgh.
The practice built particularly in Edinburgh, where it won six Edinburgh Architectural Association Building of the Year Awards, most recently picking up the Wood Award and a commendation for its Arcadia Nursery at the University of Edinburgh, but also for Scottish Ballet and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow.
It has recently completed a civic hub in Stromness, in Orkney, and a hotel and museum for the Western Isles at Lews Castle, in Stornoway.
