Malcolm Logistics bonded warehouse to receive electrical upgrades
Arc-Tech (Scotland) Ltd is set to deliver a range of electrical service upgrades for a bonded warehouse in Glenrothes for the logistics division of the Malcolm Group.
Malcolm Construction, a division of the Malcolm Group which services all areas of the constuction industry, is the main contractor at the Glenrothes facility.
The works comprise of the adaption of an existing open plan warehouse facility, which is being modified to provided storage of whisky casks for the purpose of maturation for Diageo.
This requires three large areas to be divided into 12 smaller cells to provide fire compartmentation whilst also adhering to the required ATEX regulations for explosive atmospheres as a result of the ethanol produced by the maturing whiskey whilst the casks are in storage.
Arc-Tech have been employed to install the electrical infrastructure throughout the premises which consists of new high-level containment, cabling, high bay LED lighting, an emergency lighting central battery system, lightning protection and fire alarm incorporating aspirating smoke detection.
John Gallacher, managing director of Arc-Tech, said: “We have worked with the Malcolm Group on a previous bonded warehouse for Diageo in Grangemouth, therefore we are very well accustomed to how they operate.
“A specialist ATEX environment such as this warehouse will require all works to be completed to an exacting standard by our CompEx trained engineers.
“We are confident that the project will be delivered to the highest standards of quality expected by Diageo, the Malcom Group and ourselves. We look forward to working with the Malcolm Group as the contract progresses.”
