A further 270 flats are planned to complement the ongoing Phase 1 residential development, where the first tranche of 252 homes was handed over in May.

Delivery of Phase 2 will be a collaborative effort involving Home Group and CCG Scotland, with the project design team comprising MAST Architects, G3 Consulting Engineers and MBLA.

The new phase intends to develop the remaining land at the former Meat Market on Duke Street in Dennistoun, featuring a combination of private and semi-private amenity spaces that will help link the various development phases together, with future plans for a new linear park and redevelopment of the original Meat Market sheds.

In a consultation statement, Mast wrote: “The proposed development places an emphasis on high-quality design, respecting the existing urban fabric of Dennistoun’s tenemental grid. This will introduce much needed new energy-efficient housing to the area whilst also revitalising an area of derelict brownfield land.

“The plan includes main adopted roads connecting Phase 1 and Phase 2, offering two access points from Duke Street. Additionally, pedestrian pathways within the site will link the development to the proposed linear park, to the south. Cycle and vehicle parking is provided throughout the site, the level of provision for the latter being assessed against the likely car ownership profile of the scheme’s future residents.

“The proposed flat types consist of studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom open-plan apartments, each with access to private, semi-private, or shared amenity spaces. The communal landscape areas within the development are thoughtfully designed to enhance local biodiversity, creating a natural habitat for local wildlife.”

A Proposal of Application Notice (PoAN) was formally submitted to Glasgow City Council in August 2023.

An in-person event will take place on October 3rd, running from 4:00 pm to 7:45 pm at Dennistoun Library. Additionally, Mast will be conducting a separate online consultation lasting for one week, corresponding with the in-person event.
