McGill wins £230k contract at Brechin Community Campus
Dundee-based contractor McGill has been awarded a £230,000 contract by Angus Council to carry out the end-to-end process of installing photovoltaic (PV) solar panels at Brechin Community Campus.
The 12-week contract will see McGill manage the contract at every stage, from design and supply, to installation and testing, through to demonstration, training, and finally handover of a new fully compliant solar PV installation at the school, which was opened in 2016.
This contract award represents recognition of McGill’s vast expertise in renewables, as the company’s Eco Division has a track record of high-profile renewables projects, such as the installation of solar panels at Dundee Science Centre, as part of its Green Policy and commitment to sustainability. McGill is also a member of the Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC) and so is committed to maintaining the highest standards on every renewables project.
McGill managing director Errol Lawrie said: “I’m delighted that McGill has been awarded this contract with Angus Council. They’re long-standing partners of ours, and they trust us to deliver every time. This is a challenging project, as the school will remain open while we are on site, so health and safety is paramount, as it is on every project we undertake. McGill is Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS001) approved by the NICEIC, and that gives extra reassurance to our customers that we work to the very highest safety and quality standards.”
Commercial director Douglas Smith MRICS added: “This is a great win for everyone at McGill, and a real feather in our cap. This process was very competitive, and for us to be awarded the contract shows that our reputation for expertise in renewable technologies is secured. Angus Council know what we do, and we partner with them on a range of contracts already. To add to this with such an ambitious project is exciting, and our Eco Division can’t wait to get started.”
