M&E services progress at Merchiston Castle School
Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) services are supporting modernisation works at Merchiston Castle School, a boy’s Boarding School located in Colinton, south-east Edinburgh.
Arc-Tech (Scotland), a specialist for M&E service installations, is supporting Linear Design and Construct to upgrade the school’s pupil accommodation.
Set on over 100 acres of land, the school is one of Scotland’s most prestigious private academic institutions and has been located at Merchiston Castle since 1893. The modernisation works are being undertaken to student accommodation areas located throughout the campus with lighting, power, data, fire alarms, security, door access, heating, domestic water services, drainage and ventilation among the list of services being installed.
Arc-Tech will fully complete and commission the service package over the coming months in support of a formal opening of the new facilities in time for the 23/24 academic year.
John Gallacher, Arc-Tech (Scotland) managing director, said: “We were delighted to be brought on board to work with Linear Design and Construct. This is the second contract that Arc-Tech has been appointed to and we have since established a very positive working relationship with the contractor.
“Our site team have worked diligently since commencement and I commend the quality of workmanship that has been undertaken thus far. The contract has also helped provide good working experience for some of our younger team members; following on from our recent trade apprentice intake announcement that will see us employ three apprentices in 2023, it’s great to provide updates on how our graduates are now supporting contracts such as Merchiston as full-time employees.
“Electrician William Moncrief joined us in 2019 and is one of many examples of how our business supports youth employment.”
