Miller Homes donates funds to primary school on World Book Day
Miller Homes’ Evergreen Manor development in Kilmarnock is partnering with local book shop The Book Nook Stewarton to donate £250 worth of vouchers to Kilmaurs Primary School in celebration of World Book Day’s 25th anniversary.
Pupils from the school welcomed Miller Homes’ Evergreen Manor development sales manager, Alison Darroch, and let her know which books they are looking forward to buying with their vouchers.
Teachers at the school plan to use the vouchers as prizes for a host of book themed activities on World Book Day, all designed to inspire pupils to enjoy reading.
Louise Caldwell, sales director for Miller Homes Scotland West, said: “Literacy is such an important part of the school journey, and we want to help make books accessible for all. Supporting the communities we build in is key to our new developments, and it’s wonderful we’re able to help both our local primary school and local retail as part of this global celebration of reading.”
The head teacher at Kilmaurs Primary School explained: “It has been fantastic to see our pupils excited about reading and celebrating 25 years of World Book Day. Reading is a key feature of our improvement journey this session, and we’re so pleased to have Miller Homes involved to support our school and our local business partner.”
Sarah Frame, owner of The Book Nook Stewarton, said: “World Book Day is a great chance for us to engage children in reading and showcase all the fun that can be had by getting stuck into a book. We run a wide range of workshops for the local kids and are home to a great variety of children’s books for all ages from pre-school to young adult. We’re delighted to partner with Miller Homes to help inspire and educate children on the wonders of reading.”
