Miller Homes has supported 117 groups across Scotland through its Community Fund initiative, making a direct impact to those in need near its communities.

David McGrath, Miller Homes’ executive managing director, Scotland and North, commented on the initiative: “A strong sense of community is integral to the spirit of Miller Homes as it allows us to show our support in helping those closest to us. Community Fund directly impacts the communities in which we’re building in and it is incredibly rewarding to see the difference the funding makes to local initiatives, year after year.”

Jamie Morrison, chief executive at Signpost international is delighted with the funding. He said: “We are thrilled to have been awarded this grant from Miller Homes’ Community Fund to support our surplus food projects in Dundee. Hunger is not just something that impacts people on the other side of the world; it is unfortunately a daily reality for too many people across our city here in Dundee and around Scotland.

“The sad irony is that globally enough, in fact more than enough, food is produced to eliminate hunger altogether and yet it is estimated that the equivalent of one billion meals is thrown away each and every day, 165,000 from Dundee alone! Support from the Fund will help ensure we are able to continue to support people experiencing hunger in the city, while working to reduce the volume of food that is wasted.”

Allan Young, lead youth volunteer instructor at SFRS Youth Volunteer Scheme, Dumbarton, said: “YVS Dumbarton would like to say a huge thank you to Miller Homes’ Community Fund for selecting us to receive funding. Accessing funding is becoming more challenging for youth and community groups, so it is encouraging that companies like Miller Homes continue to see the value in investing back into their local communities.

“The funding will be going directly to a fun packed outward-bound weekend for our young people to enhance our regular Thursday drill night provision.”
