Morrison Construction secures £31m Cumbernauld school deal
Morrison Construction has achieved financial close on a £31.2 million contract to build a new high school in Cumbernauld.
The Galliford Try business will carry out the construction, providing a like for like replacement of the existing Greenfaulds High School. In addition Galliford Try will invest £0.7 million in the funding for the project.
The Hub South West Scotland project for North Lanarkshire Council forms part of the council’s Schools and Centres 21 scheme.
Designed by Archial Norr, the heart of the building is the central space consisting of a hall, social, dining and internal courtyard. These spaces have been designed to also work together providing opportunities for performance, drama, conference and social events.
Galliford Try executive chairman, Greg Fitzgerald, said today: “The successful financial close of Greenfaulds High School follows closely behind the announcement by North Lanarkshire Council to award Morrison Construction a place on their £100m framework. We look forward to working with the Council to create buildings that will serve the whole community, as well as significantly enhancing the facilities for education in the region.”
