Muir Homes expands central belt presence with North Lanarkshire site acquisition
Muir Homes is expanding its presence in the central belt with the acquisition of a major new development site at Garnqueen Farm, near the village of Glenboig in North Lanarkshire.
The 16-acre site, which is within the Gartcosh and Glenboig Community Growth Area, already has full planning permission in place for 158 two, three and four-bedroom homes. Muir Homes intends to begin work this month on the development, which will be known as Queen’s Gait, with the first phase of homes launched for sale at the end of November.
The acquisition marks a move for the Inverkeithing-headquartered firm towards more development in Glasgow’s sought-after commuter belt. The company had previously focussed on Fife, Perthshire and Aberdeenshire.
Ash Sheikh, sales and marketing director at Muir Homes, said: “We are delighted to have completed the acquisition of this site which is in a fantastic location, just ten miles from Glasgow city centre and a few minutes’ drive from the M73, M8 and M80 motorways. Gartcosh railway station is also within easy reach.
“Queen’s Gait will help address the shortage of high-quality modern family homes in the area, and we expect demand to be high. I am looking forward to work getting started in the coming weeks, and to launching the first homes for sale later in the autumn.”
