New £30m Radisson hotel planned for Glasgow
Plans have been unveiled for a £30 million Radisson hotel on the banks of the River Clyde in Glasgow.
Forrest Hotels will shortly be submitting a detailed planning application to Glasgow City Council for a 176-bed 4 star hotel with 78 parking spaces, bar, restaurant, Sky Bar, gallery, gym and more than 100sq m of event spaces.
Designed by ADF Architects, the development will complement the surrounding architecture and provide additional facilities adjacent to the SSE Hydro arena and SECC complex.
The 10-storey Radisson Red building will have an exterior that will appear to change colour in reaction to natural light.
The project will be the first new-build hotel in Europe run by the Radisson Group and create 60 jobs.
Should planning permission be granted, works are likely to commence on site early in 2016 with the hotel scheduled to open by September 2017.
Elie Younes, executive vice president & chief development officer of Rezidor, the parent company of Radisson, said: “The Radisson Red Hotel Glasgow will be a flagship and strengthen the brand’s strategic roll-out in Europe, the Middle East & Africa and across the globe. Set for ambitious growth in urban locations, Radisson Red targets 60+ hotels worldwide by the year 2020.”
