Annemarie O’Donnell has been appointed as hub West Scotland (hWS) Limited’s new independent chair.
Annemarie will take up her new position on 1st January 2025.
With over 30 years of experience at Glasgow City Council, where she served as chief executive, Annemarie has an incredible track record in driving inclusive economic growth and delivering transformative regeneration projects. hWS said Annemarie’s deep commitment to working with partners across the public, private, and third sectors to address social challenges, paired with her expertise as a member of the Law Society of Scotland, brings invaluable insight and experience as the country faces a future of economic uncertainty.
The board said they are confident that under her leadership, hWS will continue to strengthen collaboration and provide solutions that will benefit all members of the hub partnership.
Current chair Jo Armstrong will be stepping down at the end of her second term, having led the board since 2018.
Hub West’s chief executive, Iain Marley, extended his heartfelt thanks to Jo for her exceptional leadership and dedication.
He said: “Jo has been an inspiration and instrumental in guiding us through significant growth and change, and we are immensely grateful for the wisdom and insights she brought to the role. We look forward to building on the strong foundation she laid. We warmly welcome Annemarie to the team and are confident that her vision and leadership will further strengthen the hub West Partnership and our commitment to add value for our clients.”

The need for continued investment into public facilities is significant and through close collaboration and deployment of our collective resources, along with innovative funding models, we can unlock greater investment potential and deliver wider social and economic benefits to our communities.”
Outgoing chair Jo Armstrong said: “During my time as chair of hub West I have had the privilege of working with an immensely innovative and resilient executive team and Board. I enjoyed the experience yet feel much more is possible. So, I am really pleased at the board’s appointment of Annemarie as the new chair. Annemarie brings the skills and insights hub West can use to maximise its support of its many stakeholders and partners.”
