New contractors move in on Muirfield site in Dundee
Hadden Construction has been tasked with taking over the conversion of a former Dundee primary school following the collapse of Muirfield Contracts.
Tor Homes (Scotland) Ltd appointed the contractors to create 27 luxury apartments from the Eastern Primary School in Broughty Ferry.
The original school building was constructed in 1911 to James H Langlands’ designs. Due to its architectural significance, it has achieved A listed status in order to protect the magnificent structure.
The spacious new apartments will deliver open plan living spaces, some with vaulted ceilings and cathedral windows and others with mezzannine floors and glass walls.
The windows to each apartment will be replaced on a like for like basis to preserve the quality and facade of the original building.
Paul Millan, director of Tor Homes, said: “We are delighted with the appointment of Hadden Construction and, given their experience of many sensitive refurbishment projects, we now look forward to making good progress with the Eastern Residences development.”
