New council homes approved for Blackdog
Members of Aberdeenshire Council’s Formartine Area Committee have approved plans to begin work on 24 new council homes at Blackdog.
Councillors met last week to discuss and approve the development which forms part of a supplementary procurement plan within the Strabathie Village development.
Chair of the committee Cllr Iain Taylor said: “Given the level of housing need in the area, this opportunity site presented the committee with the prospect of being able to address housing need in the area rapidly.
“These properties, which are due to be completed by mid-2024, will contribute to addressing local housing need across a diverse range of household types – from larger family-sized properties to fully wheelchair-accessible homes suitable for those with particular needs.
“Furthermore, they will also meet the latest energy efficiency standards with a minimum EPC rating of B, which will go some way to addressing fuel poverty and the current cost of living crisis.”
The development, phase 10 of Aberdeenshire’s new-build affordable housing programme, will comprise 22 houses and two bungalows, with eight two-bed, 14 three-bed and two four-bed homes.
