- Team:Morgan McDonnell Architecture (architect)
The redevelopment, on behalf of Silvermills Estates and Land Limited, will see elements of the Georgian era buildings at number 12 and 14 Picardy Place partly demolished and rebuilt.
The changes proposed changes include the erection of a mezzanine platform and courtyard roof. A new replacement extension with a glazed stair/lift lobby adjoining the original townhouse will be built on the footprint of the former extension from number 14.
Silvermills Estates and Land Limited confirmed that the rebuild will restore both buildings to their original condition.
The spokesperson from the company told the Edinburgh Evening News: “Interiors and exteriors of the townhouse buildings fronting onto Picardy Place will be fully restored to their original condition as part of the works.
“The intent is to only demolish the rear mews, but retain the mews façades, and hall at number 14.
“A new replacement extension with a glazed stair/lift lobby adjoining the original townhouse will be built on the footprint of the former extension from number 14.”
Silvermills Estates and Land Limited said other uses, including residential use, have been considered for the site but are not viable.
